Founded in 1954, "The Renaissance Society of America (RSA) is the largest international learned society devoted to the study of the era 1300-1600". The RSA encompasses over 6,000 members worldwide; "RSA’s members can be found especially at universities and other institutions of higher education as faculty, graduate students, and postgraduate students, as well as at museums, libraries, and cultural institutions; members also include independent scholars and many others interested in Renaissance studies". The RSA is committed to encouraging interdisciplinary, vibrancy, and diversity. In support of scholarship, the RSA published the "Renaissance Quarterly" journal and awards over 30 research grants each year. The RSA hosts an annual conference where approximately 3,000 scholars gather to discuss and present their research.
